What happened
On a scheduled executive flight from San Fernando, Buenos Aires, a twin engine aircraft departed at 12:22 local time bound for Carmelo, Uruguay. While performing an approach to runway 35 at Carmelo-Zagarzazú Airport, the pilot encountered weather conditions that were considered marginal, prompting the decision to execute a go-around.
Shortly after this initial attempt, the pilot initiated a second approach under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). During the descent phase, while the aircraft was performing a minor left-hand turn, it struck the surface of the Río de la Plata. The wreckage settled in shallow water located approximately 10 km southwest of the airport. The impact resulted in the death of five people, including the pilot and four passengers, while four others sustained injuries. The aircraft was completely destroyed in the accident.
