What happened

During an approach to Juneau Airport, the crew of a twin engine aircraft began a descent amidst unfavorable weather. While flying through cloud cover at an altitude of approximately 2,600 feet, the plane collided with a mountain slope within the Chilkat Mountain Range. The accident occurred roughly 38 miles northwest of the destination airport.

Upon the collision, the aircraft was completely destroyed. There were no survivors among the eight fatalities recorded in the incident. The flight included the pilot, the copilot, and six passengers.
