What happened
During the approach phase toward Beatty, the aircraft suffered a failure in one of its engines. In response to the loss of power, the pilot initiated a go-around procedure. During this maneuver, the aircraft lost altitude and collided with overhead power cables. The impact resulted in the plane crashing onto land away from the airport.
There were four people on board at the time of the accident, all of whom sustained slight injuries. While the occupants survived, the aircraft was determined to be a total loss due to damage sustained during the crash.
Findings
Investigators determined that the primary cause of the incident was an engine malfunction that occurred during the go-around. Specifically, the failure was traced to the blower and impeller assembly. Additional contributing factors identified in the investigation included material failure within the engine components and the presence of high obstructions near the flight path.
