What happened

A brand new twin engine airplane was performing a delivery mission for the Government of Ceylon, traveling from Kansas City toward Colombo with several scheduled stops along the route. During the approach phase to Naples-Capodichino Airport, the aircraft impacted a hill situated at Camaldoli. The collision occurred approximately 7 km before reaching the threshold of runway 06.

The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. There were three fatalities among the occupants, which included the pilot and two other crew members.
