What happened
On the date of the incident, an aircraft was performing a cruise at an altitude of 4,000 feet when it suddenly became uncontrollable. The plane descended into a heavily wooded, unpopulated area situated approximately 84 km northwest of Calabar. Upon impact, the wreckage was completely destroyed.
There were 13 fatalities recorded in the accident, as all occupants on board perished during the crash. There were no survivors reported from the scene.
Findings
Investigations into the crash determined that the primary reason for the loss of control was a structural failure of the left wing while the aircraft was in flight.
