What happened
During a scheduled supply flight, an aircraft was operating at an altitude of 4,000 feet when it struck trees and plummeted into a heavily wooded region. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft and caused the deaths of eight occupants. Following the failure of the plane to arrive at its intended destination, search and rescue teams were mobilized.
Search crews located the debris field during the afternoon of the initial search efforts. Although rescue personnel were deployed approximately 2,000 yards from the site, severe weather conditions prevented immediate access to the wreckage. It took three days for responders to successfully reach the crash location. Amidst the wreckage, one individual was discovered alive; this survivor managed to walk away from the site and was eventually located twelve days after the initial accident.
Findings
