A skydiving aircraft crashed during its final approach at Agen-La Garenne Airport, resulting in the deaths of both crew members.

What happened

During a series of skydiving operations at Agen-La Garenne Airport, an aircraft was conducting its fifth mission of the day. Prior to this flight, four successful sorties had been completed. While performing the fifth mission, the crew encountered mechanical issues with the engine. Despite these difficulties, the aircraft reached an altitude of 15,000 feet, allowing the 16 skydivers on board to exit the plane safely.

Following the jump, the crew attempted to descend and began a landing pattern to return to the airfield. However, while on short final approach, the aircraft pitched downward and collided with the crest of a hill. The impact occurred approximately 500 metres before reaching runway 11. The collision resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft and the deaths of both pilots.
