What happened
During a return flight from Doro to Nairobi, an aircraft carrying four personnel involved in a regional humanitarian mission experienced a loss of altitude immediately following liftoff. The takeoff was conducted from an airstrip characterized by muddy conditions. Shortly after leaving the ground, the aircraft failed to reach a safe altitude, causing the left wing to strike a tree trunk. The impact forced the plane into a nearby ditch, where the aircraft eventually came to rest in an inverted position.
Findings
- The primary factor in the accident was the inability to gain sufficient height following takeoff.
- The condition of the runway, specifically the muddy airstrip, contributed to the loss of performance during the departure phase.
- All five people on board, including the crew and mission personnel, managed to exit the wreckage without sustaining any 0 injuries.
