What happened
On the morning of the accident, a single-engine aircraft departed from Tayoltlyta Airfield at approximately 09:00 local time. The flight was operating as a charter service destined for Durango, carrying a total of ten people, including the pilot and nine passengers.
Roughly twelve minutes after takeoff, the pilot experienced mechanical issues related to the engine and subsequently issued an emergency declaration. During the attempt to perform an emergency landing due to an inability to sustain a safe altitude, the single-engine airplane struck the ground in the bed of the Piaxtla River. The crash site was located approximately 16 km northeast of the departure airfield at coordinates N 24° 11' 2.65" W 105° 47' 12.57''.
The impact of the crash caused the total destruction of the aircraft, though no post-crash fire was reported. The accident resulted in three fatalities and seven injuries among the occupants.
