What happened
A twin-engine aircraft departed from Zweibrücken Airport on a visual flight rules (VFR) mission destined for Egelsbach. The flight was carrying a pilot and two passengers. While cruising at an altitude of 5,000 feet, the flight proceeded without incident until the approach phase near the destination.
During the arrival process, the pilot contacted air traffic control to report mechanical difficulties. Due to these technical issues, the decision was made to divert the flight to Griesheim-August-Euler Airport. As the aircraft was performing a left turn on short final approach, it experienced a stall. The aircraft type crashed approximately 160 meters before reaching the threshold of runway 25. The impact caused the plane to burst into flames, and the twin-engine aircraft was completely destroyed. There were three fatalities and no survivors.
Findings
The accident occurred during the final approach phase while the crew was attempting to manage technical problems that had prompted the diversion.
