What happened
During a ferry operation traveling from Heraklion to Riyadh via Hurghada, Egypt, an aircraft experienced a catastrophic loss of power while approaching Riyadh-King Khaled Airport. While the crew was on final approach at an altitude of approximately 600 feet, the left engine ceased functioning. Approximately 10 seconds after the initial failure, the right engine also lost power.
Following the loss of both engines, the aircraft began to lose altitude rapidly. The crew notified Air Traffic Control of the emergency situation as the plane descended. The aircraft subsequently struck the ground and slid for several dozen meters before coming to a stop against a rock formation. The impact resulted in the aircraft being damaged beyond repair.
Injuries
Regarding the occupants, the crew consisted of two pilots. One pilot sustained a broken wrist during the incident, while the other pilot was able to exit the wreckage without any injuries.
