What happened
On October 29, 1995, at approximately 21:52 UTC, a Cessna 340, registration N5736M, crashed into the ground near Vienna, Austria. The aircraft was being operated by Austrian Cessna Aviation, Inc. under instrument flight rules for a private mission. The flight had originated from Barcelona, Spain, earlier that evening, departing at roughly 18:10 UTC.
During the approach to the destination, the aircraft was performing an instrument landing system approach. At the time of the accident, the area was experiencing instrument meteorological conditions. Following the impact, a fire broke out, which led to the total destruction of the airframe. All six people on board, including the pilot and five passengers, survived the event but sustained minor injuries.
