What happened
During the cruise phase of flight, after the aircraft had climbed to an altitude of 2,000 feet, both engines experienced a simultaneous loss of power. In an effort to resolve the issue, the pilot performed several troubleshooting steps, including inspecting the fuel pump switches, checking the magnetos, and attempting to switch fuel tanks. When these actions failed to restore power, the pilot issued a mayday call to Birmingham Air Traffic Control.
Following the loss of power, the pilot deployed the landing gear. The crew struggled to locate an appropriate landing site and encountered obstacles, including several trees, during the final approach. The aircraft eventually performed a forced landing in a field containing mature wheat. Upon impact, all three landing gear legs collapsed. The occupants were able to exit the aircraft via the standard passenger door without further incident.
