What happened

A twin-engine aircraft departed from Belém-Júlio Cesar Ribeiro Airport on a scheduled taxi flight destined for Almeirim. The flight was being operated by the Brazilian firm Embratel and was carrying a total of nine people, consisting of one pilot and eight passengers.

Shortly after the departure, the pilot contacted air traffic control to report technical difficulties involving the engines. In response to these issues, the crew decided to divert the flight to Abaetetuba Airport to perform an emergency landing. However, during this diversion, the aircraft became uncontrollable and impacted the ground near Ponta de Pedras, located approximately 45 km west of Belém. The impact resulted in a large explosion at the crash site.

Findings

All nine occupants on board the twin-engine airplane perished in the accident. The sequence of events indicates that the flight was interrupted by engine problems which preceded the loss of control.
