What happened

During a local training mission departing from Bogotá-Guaymaral Airport, a twin engine airplane was operating with a pilot in training, an instructor, and one passenger on board. As the aircraft was descending from the north to perform an approach toward runway 11, the crew experienced mechanical difficulties involving one of the engines. In response to the malfunction, an emergency was declared.

While attempting to execute an emergency landing, the aircraft struck power lines. The subsequent impact occurred in a garden area situated approximately 12 km north of the Bogotá-Guaymaral Airport. The force of the collision resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. There was no fire reported at the scene of the crash. All three fatalities were confirmed among the occupants of the plane.
