What happened
During the departure phase from Nairobi-Wilson Airport, an aircraft was performing a climb from runway 14 when the pilot's side window became open. This event caused a significant distraction for the pilot, leading to a loss of control over the aircraft type.
As the plane lost altitude, it struck a concrete wall situated beyond the end of the runway. Following this impact, the aircraft hit the ground, resulting in the separation of the undercarriage. The wreckage continued to slide across the terrain for approximately 400 metres before finally coming to a stop.
Findings
- The pilot's window opening served as the primary distraction during the climb.
- The aircraft sustained damage beyond repair.
