What happened
During a training mission departing from El Palomar Airport at 16:04 local time, a twin engine airplane experienced a critical mechanical failure. The flight, which included two pilots and one passenger, was in the process of descending toward Buenos Aires-Ezeiza-Ministro Pistarini Airport when the right engine ceased functioning.
Following the loss of power, the crew attempted to restart the engine but were unsuccessful. Unable to preserve a safe altitude, the pilot initiated an emergency landing procedure. During this maneuver, the aircraft struck an open field situated approximately 24 km from the destination airport. The impact was followed by a fire that partially destroyed the airframe.
Findings
- The primary factor in the accident was the failure of the right engine during the descent phase.
- All three occupants of the aircraft sustained injuries during the crash.
- The aircraft was subjected to significant damage due to the post-impact fire.
