What happened
A twin-engine airplane was performing a flight from Belo Horizonte-Pampulha-Carlos Drummond de Andrade toward the Fortaleza de Santa Terezinha Farm in the Jequitaí region of Minas Gerais. While the aircraft was on its final approach to runway 20, it struck a metallic water irrigation system during the last segment of the flight.
Following the collision, the pilot attempted to execute a go-around procedure. However, the pilot lost control of the twin engine airplane, which veered toward the left. The aircraft subsequently struck the ground in a field situated approximately 600 meters from the initial point of impact. The impact and a subsequent post-crash fire resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. There were four fatalities among the four occupants, which included the pilot and three passengers.
Findings
- The aircraft collided with a metallic irrigation structure during the final approach phase.
