A twin-engine aircraft crashed into a mountain slope in Brazil during a positioning flight, resulting in the deaths of both crew members.

What happened

A twin-engine aircraft departed from Rio de Janeiro-Santos Dumont at 14:02 local time, performing a positioning flight toward Jacarepaguá Airport. Shortly after departing, the co-pilot notified air traffic control that the aircraft was following route Bravo and maintaining an altitude of 1,500 feet until reaching the coastline.

While the aircraft was cruising through cloud cover at approximately 1,380 feet, it collided with the slope of Mt Morro da Taquara within the Tijuca National Park. The wreckage was subsequently located in the vicinity of Alto da Boa Vista. The accident resulted in two fatalities, as both pilots were killed in the impact.
