What happened
On the afternoon of the incident, a private flight departed from the Comandante Rolim Adolfo Amaro Aerodrome (SBJD) in Jundiaí, São Paulo, destined for the Barra Grande Aerodrome (SIRI) in Maraú, Bahia. The flight was carrying a total of ten people, consisting of two pilots and eight passengers.
At approximately 1717 (UTC), the aircraft type was attempting to land on runway 11. During the approach, the aircraft performed an undershoot landing. The impact caused the auxiliary and main landing gear to fail. As the plane continued along the runway, the lower portion of the wing and the fuselage dragged along the ground. The aircraft eventually veered off the left side of the runway, coming to a halt at an angle of roughly 210 degrees from its original landing path. Following the excursion, a fire broke out and heavily damaged the airframe, ultimately destroying the plane.
In the accident, there were five fatalities and five serious injuries among the crew and passengers.
Findings
- The primary cause of the accident was an undershoot landing on runway 11.
- The structural failure of the landing gear led to the fuselage and wing contacting the runway surface.
- The subsequent fire resulted in the total loss of the aircraft.
