What happened
A twin-engine cargo flight departed from Dekai Airport at 15:30 local time, bound for Wamena. The aircraft was transporting 1,600 kilograms of various goods and was operated by a crew of three.
Between 15:54 and 16:00, the flight crew maintained communication with controllers in Wamena. However, at 16:01, while the aircraft was cruising at an altitude of 9,600 feet, it struck a mountain slope. The accident occurred during a period of restricted visibility.
Search efforts located the wreckage approximately 19 km southeast of Wamena the following day. The impact caused the aircraft type to disintegrate, and all three fatalities were confirmed among the crew members.
