What happened
On a morning departure from Governors Island, New York, a single-engine aircraft was traveling toward a destination in Burlington, Vermont. While traversing the area over the Hudson River, the crew encountered deteriorating weather conditions. During the flight, the aircraft drifted off its intended course and eventually struck trees on the eastern side of Bloodfoot Mountain, located approximately seven miles east of Brandon.
Following the failure of the plane to reach its destination, search and rescue operations were initiated. The wreckage was not located until ten days after the disappearance. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. Of the four people on board, four fatalities were recorded; while one individual initially survived the impact, they succumbed to their injuries three days following the accident.
