What happened

During the final approach phase toward Clark Air Force Base, two aircraft collided in mid-air. The incident involved a USAF Rockwell T-39A Sabreliner, identified by registration 62-4458, and a second twin-engine airplane. At the time of the impact, the crew of two aboard the Sabreliner was engaged in a local training mission.

The collision occurred approximately 1.5 km east of the airfield. The force of the impact caused both aircraft to crash at the same location. There were a total of seven fatalities resulting from the accident, as all occupants on both planes perished in the crash.
