What happened
During a flight operating from Saigon toward Đà Nẵng, the aircraft was cruising at 9,000 feet when the right engine experienced a failure. Following this malfunction, the crew encountered difficulties attempting to feather the propeller and were unable to hold their designated altitude. In response to the mechanical emergency, the pilot initiated an unplanned diversion to Buôn Ma Thuột Airport.
As the aircraft type descended toward the diversion airfield, the plane became uncontrollable. The impact occurred at an altitude of 700 meters on a plateau situated approximately 18 km from the airport. The crash resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft and caused 23 fatalities, including two US civilians.
