What happened
During a scheduled flight traveling from Izmir toward Naples, Italy, an aircraft entered a collision with terrain while cruising over the Peloponnese region. The incident occurred within the Chelmos Mountain Range, specifically near a mountain slope situated approximately 50 km southeast of Patras.
The impact resulted in a total of six fatalities and left four individuals seriously injured. Search teams located the wreckage of the aircraft two days after the initial event.
Findings
Investigations into the crash indicate that the pilot was operating at an altitude that was too low for the terrain. The primary factor in the accident was the failure to maintain sufficient altitude during the cruise phase of the flight, which led to the collision with the mountain.
