A flight originating from McGuire Air Force Base, destined for Eglin Air Force Base (Hulburt Field) via Philadelphia and Greensboro, ended in a fatal accident. After departing from runway 05 at Greensboro-High Point Airport, the aircraft began its ascent. While the plane had reached an altitude of approximately 150 to 200 feet, it experienced a stall. The aircraft subsequently crashed roughly 1,000 feet beyond the end of the runway.

The impact was followed by a significant fire that partially destroyed the airframe. There were seven fatalities among the occupants, which included the pilot, copilot, navigator, flight engineer, and three passengers. No survivors were reported from the wreckage.
