What happened
During the final approach phase of flight toward Offutt Air Force Base, the aircraft experienced an engine failure. Despite the loss of power, the pilot successfully managed to guide the plane onto the runway. However, following the touchdown, the crew encountered significant challenges in decelerating the aircraft within the available runway length.
As a result of the inability to stop, the aircraft overran the end of the runway and exited the paved surface, eventually coming to a halt in a nearby ditch. The impact with the terrain caused extensive damage to the airframe, rendering the plane a total loss.
Outcomes
- All 20 occupants were successfully rescued from the wreckage without reported fatalities.
- The aircraft sustained damage that was classified as beyond repair.
