What happened
During a night departure from Trelew Airport, an aircraft entered its climbing phase before colliding with terrain. While the plane was at a low altitude following takeoff, the pilot-in-command executed a sharp turn. This maneuver caused the aircraft to strike a nearby hill, leading to a high-impact crash.
The accident resulted in 12 fatalities, leaving no survivors among the occupants. The passengers included nine civilians who were traveling toward an oil operations center situated in the Patagonia region. The impact was severe enough that the airframe was completely destroyed.
Findings
- The primary factor in the crash was a steep turn performed at low altitude during the climb phase.
- The collision with the hillside occurred immediately following this maneuver.
