What happened
During an operational mission to calibrate the Instrument Landing System (ILS) at Tehran-Mehrabad International Airport, a twin engine aircraft impacted terrain. The flight was approaching the airport from a northwestern direction when the crew encountered significantly reduced visibility caused by intense rainfall.
As the aircraft proceeded on its approach, it struck a mountain slope that was obscured by cloud cover. The impact occurred in the vicinity of Khozankala, situated approximately 33 km northwest of the destination airport. Following the collision, the aircraft was completely destroyed. Search efforts located the wreckage in an area near the Amir Kabir Dam.
