History of the Flight
Oxford Aviation Incorporated operated domestic cargo shuttle flights between Ekereku Bottom and Eteringbang Airstrips. On 12 November 2015, the Cessna U206C departed Ogle International Airport at 15:17 UTC with three persons: the pilot, an aircraft mechanic, and a passenger, plus a tool kit and personal baggage. It landed at Eteringbang at 16:46. The accident flight was the second shuttle, carrying two drums of diesel. It departed Eteringbang at 17:47 and landed at Ekereku Bottom at 18:05.
Accident Sequence
The Ekereku Bottom Airstrip measures 1,623 ft by 41 ft. A Cessna 172 was parked near the turnaround area, with its nose wheel 1 ft off the turnaround area and propeller cone protruding approximately 2 ft into the turnaround area. The U206C landed more than halfway down the runway, about 1,000 ft from the beginning of Runway 10. It touched down right of the imaginary center line at an angle of approximately 30° to the center line. During its landing roll, the aircraft veered further right, and the right wing contacted the left wing of the parked Cessna. The U206C came to a stop 175 ft beyond the end of the runway at an approximate angle of 45° right of the extended center line.
Damage and Injuries
Both aircraft sustained substantial damage. The active aircraft had only the pilot on board along with the cargo of two fuel drums. No injuries or fatalities occurred, and there was no fire.
Additional Information
The accident occurred at coordinates 06°24'01.05"N 060°51'14.46"W in Region No. 7, Guyana. Wheel impressions indicated the aircraft landed right of the center line and continued onto the grass and sand shoulder. The investigation was conducted by the Guyana Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Unit (GAAIU) in accordance with ICAO Annex 13.
