What happened
Following departure from Arakkonam-Rajali NAS, an aircraft bound for Tambaram AFB experienced significant mechanical issues. During the initial flight phase, the pilot notified air traffic control to declare an emergency, citing serious technical difficulties. In response to this declaration, the pilot was authorized to perform an emergency landing back at the departure airfield.
As the aircraft was executing its final approach, it became uncontrollable. The plane impacted a wooded area situated approximately 2.5 km before reaching the runway. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. There were eight fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft.
