An aircraft on a flight from Jorhat to Mechuka lost radio and radar contact en route. Wreckage was found eight days later at high altitude; all 13 occupants were killed.

Incident

The aircraft departed Jorhat Airport at 1227 local time on a flight to Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh. Approximately half an hour into the flight, while at cruising altitude, radio and radar contact with the aircraft were lost.

Wreckage Discovery

Search and rescue operations were initiated promptly. The wreckage was located eight days later, on June 11, by the crew of a Mil Mi-17 helicopter. The site was at an altitude of 12,000 feet in a wooded and steep area, approximately 16 kilometers north of Lipo and 32 kilometers east of Mechuka Airport.

Damage and Casualties

The aircraft was totally destroyed. All 13 occupants on board were killed.
