What happened
On June 3, 2020, a Fairchild SA-227-AC, registered as LV-YIC, was performing a sanitary aerial work mission when the crew encountered a technical issue during the approach phase. While preparing to land at the General San Martín International Airport in Resistencia, Chaco, the crew discovered that the left landing gear could not be extended. Due to this mechanical malfunction, the pilot decided to execute an emergency landing at the airfield.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the failure of a non-engine component during the landing sequence. The aircraft, operated by Flying America S.A. and owned by Clear Sky SRL, was operating under visual meteorological conditions (VMC) at the time of the incident. Investigators examined the state of the aircraft following the landing and the circumstances surrounding the gear malfunction.
Findings
- The primary cause of the emergency landing was a component failure that prevented the left landing gear from deploying.
- There were no injuries to the seven people on board the aircraft.
- The aircraft sustained no damage during the landing process.
