What happened
On August 1, 2021, an experimental APC Supercosa, registration LV-X794, was conducting a test flight at the Aeroclub Oliva in the Córdoba province of Argentina. The aircraft was operating under visual meteorological conditions (VMC) for the purpose of flight testing. During the brief three-minute flight, the aircraft experienced a failure involving an engine group component or system. This failure caused the aircraft to crash at the Aeroclub Oliva airfield. While the aircraft sustained significant damage, the pilot escaped the incident without any injuries.
The investigation
The Argentine Transportation Safety Board (JST) conducted a technical investigation into the incident. Investigators examined the aircraft's condition following the impact and analyzed the nature of the engine-related failure. The investigation focused on the mechanical circumstances surrounding the loss of power or system functionality during the takeoff and test phase of the operation.
