What happened
On July 26, 2022, an Ayres S2R-G1, registration LV-WZM, was conducting an aerial application mission near Orán, Salta. During the flight, the aircraft's engine ceased operation, forcing the pilot to perform an emergency landing in a nearby field. The aircraft sustained minor damage during the touchdown. The pilot sustained minor injuries during the event, while no other occupants were present or injured.
The investigation
The Argentine Transportation Safety Board (JST) reviewed the initial findings regarding the engine failure. The investigation focused on the circumstances surrounding the engine shutdown during the agricultural flight operation. Following an assessment of the incident's characteristics, the national directorate determined that the event did not pose a broader threat to operational safety or provide significant new lessons for systemic safety reinforcement.
