What happened
On December 19, 2020, at approximately 16:30 UTC, a Pipistrel Alpha Trainer, registration PU-MPR, was involved in a ground incident at San Fernando International Airport in Buenos Aires. The aircraft, which was performing a general aviation training flight, was in the taxi phase of operation en route from San Fernando to Lobos when the nose gear tire suffered a puncture.
The investigation
The Argentine Transportation Safety Board (JST) conducted a technical review of the event. Investigators examined the characteristics of the aircraft and the specific conditions present following the failure. The investigation focused on the nature of the component failure and its impact on the flight's safety.
Findings
The investigation established that the incident was caused by a failure of a single component, specifically the puncture of the nose tire. There were no injuries reported among the crew or passengers during the event. Because the failure did not compromise the overall operational safety of the flight, the JST determined that no further investigation was required and moved to archive the proceedings.
