What happened
A flight operated by an unspecified operator departed Budaörs Airport at 09:34 local time, traveling toward Pécs-Pogány Airport. The aircraft was carrying a total of seven people, consisting of one passenger and a crew of six. At the time of departure, weather conditions at the destination included a visibility of 4 km and a ceiling of 320 meters; however, these conditions deteriorated upon arrival, with the ceiling lowering to 240 meters.
During the approach at 10:28 local time, the pilot attempted a visual approach. While maintaining an altitude of 150 meters, the pilot notified air traffic control that the ground transmitter, which was currently deactivated, was not required. Approximately three minutes later, unable to identify the runway, the pilot initiated a go-around maneuver and executed a right-hand turn. Shortly after this turn, while flying through cloud cover, the aircraft type struck trees in a forested region on Mt Jakab, located near the airport.
The accident resulted in six fatalities and one serious injury among the occupants.
Findings
Investigations into the accident revealed that following the decision to perform a go-around, the pilot executed a turn to the right. This maneuver was contrary to established procedures, which mandated a left-hand turn during such an operation.
