What happened
During a routine supply flight to the Bảo Lộc Airstrip, the crew experienced mechanical difficulties immediately following their arrival on the runway. Upon touching down, the flight crew identified malfunctions within the aircraft's braking systems. In response to these technical issues, the captain initiated a go-around procedure by increasing engine thrust to climb away from the runway.
As the aircraft climbed past the end of the airstrip, it made contact with a small hill. This impact resulted in an aerodynamic stall, causing the plane to descend into a nearby ravine where it caught fire. The wreckage was destroyed following several explosions triggered by the onboard ammunition supply. The accident resulted in three fatalities and left three crew members seriously injured.
Findings
- Technical malfunctions involving the braking system prompted the decision to abort the landing.
- Impact with terrain during the climb phase led to a loss of control and subsequent stall.
