On October 24, 2021, an A-22US aircraft, registered as RA-1242G, was involved in a fatal accident in the vicinity of the Vatulin airfield in the Moscow region. The aircraft was being operated by a private individual for the purpose of a private flight.
According to records from the State Corporation for Air Traffic Management, the pilot-in-command did not submit the required notification for the use of Class G airspace to the air traffic control authorities. Additionally, the pilot did not establish communication with air traffic control services prior to the flight.
While the pilot-in-command did not undergo a pre-flight medical examination, this action was noted as not contradicting specific regulations regarding airfields without medical professionals. The flight history was reconstructed using third-party statements and footage from a camera located at the Vatulin airfield control point following the death of the pilot-in-command.
The accident resulted in two fatalities and no other injuries.
