On September 9, 2024, an Alex-251 aircraft, registration RA-1240G, was conducting circular flights near the Vatulino Aerodrome in the Ruzsky District of the Russian Federation. The crew, which included the pilot-in-command and an instructor, was performing the flight to restore the pilot-in-command's flying skills following a hiatus from flight operations.
During the flight, the aircraft experienced an engine failure. In the attempt to manage the single-engine condition, the aircraft entered a stall condition due to the aircraft reaching critical angles of attack. The crew performed a forced landing at an airfield selected from the air.
No flight plan had been filed with the regional air traffic control center for the RA-1240G, and no flight plan approval had been issued for the mission. Additionally, the crew did not undergo a pre-flight medical examination prior to departure.
The incident resulted in two fatalities. The weather conditions at the time of the event were visual.
