What happened
Between July 28 and July 30, 2018, the crew of an An-2S/Kh, registration RA-40649, conducted several flights within the Evenkiysky District of the Krasnoyarsk Krai. The flights were performed for the personal use of the aircraft owner for the purpose of leisure and recreational fishing. Prior to the operations, the crew had requested permission from the Novosibirsk Control Center on July 27, 2018, to utilize Class G airspace for a route spanning Voznesenka, Yartsevo, and the Yangeto River area.
On July 28, the crew completed a flight from Voznesenka to Yartsevo, then to a landing site near the mouth of the Yangeto River selected via aerial reconnaissance, before returning to Yartsevo. At the river site, the crew dropped off two passengers carrying fishing equipment. Upon returning to Yartsevo, the crew met with the aircraft owner and several others who had arrived by car. The aircraft was subsequently refueled with 1,000 liters of Avgas 100LL.
On the morning of July 29, the crew flew from Yartsevo back to the previously selected site at the mouth of the Yangeto River, where they stayed overnight in a hunting cabin with the passengers. On July 30, five individuals, including the aircraft owner, traveled 67 km upstream on the Yangeto River in two motorized inflatable boats. The crew was scheduled to retrieve the group later that day. At approximately 12:00, following pre-flight preparations, the crew departed to the agreed-upon location. The landing was performed on the riverbank, a site chosen from the air. At 13:30, after the passengers had boarded the An-2S/Kh, the crew began their departure procedures.
