On August 23, 2021, a Borey BL010 seaplane, registration RA-3042G, was operating near the 'Severka' landing site in the Kolomna urban district of Russia. The pilot had arrived at the site and decided to conduct a flight for personal reasons, including flying around the airfield and providing a ride to a passenger.
Prior to departure, the pilot performed inspections of the aircraft, including checking the oil, fuel, instruments, and magnetos. The pilot did not undergo a medical examination, though this was permitted under specific regulations for the landing site. However, the crew failed to notify air traffic control authorities of the flight in Class G airspace, which is a violation of Federal Aviation Regulations.
The aircraft was involved in an incident in the waters of the Moscow River, approximately 1.7 km southeast of the Cherkizovo settlement. During the flight, the aircraft performed a water landing while the landing gear was in the extended position.
Following the landing, the aircraft capsized. There were no fatalities, serious injuries, or minor injuries reported in connection with the event.
