On July 28, 2022, a Cessna F172P, registration RA-67332, was operating a scheduled flight from Sangar Airport as part of a forestry work contract. The pilot-in-command and a flight observer arrived at Sangar Airport at 09:25 local time to execute a flight plan intended for aerial reconnaissance and forestry duties.
During the flight, the crew was forced to perform an unplanned landing at the landing area of the Mukuchi settlement due to the deteriorating health of the flight observer. The pilot-in-command had no prior experience landing at this specific location and was unaware of the presence of artificial obstacles in the area.
The aircraft, RA-67332, initially attempted to land at the site but encountered animals on the runway. The pilot failed to abort the approach and execute a timely go-around, resulting in a significant runway overrun. Due to insufficient remaining runway length to brake the aircraft, the pilot was forced to attempt a takeoff.
During this subsequent takeoff attempt, the aircraft encountered power lines along the takeoff course. The crew was unable to maintain the necessary climb profile, leading to a collision with a power line support.
