On August 24, 2022, a Che-24A1 seaplane, registration RA-2162G, was operating in the Menzelinsk area of the Republic of Tatarstan. Earlier that morning, the pilot-in-command had completed a flight from Poyma to Menzelinsk airfield. Following this, the pilot conducted several takeoff and landing maneuvers on the water surface of the Menzelya River.
At approximately 15:10, after a passenger had boarded the aircraft, the pilot took off again, flying over the Menzelya River. During the subsequent flight operations, the aircraft attempted a landing on the water.
The aircraft, RA-2itim2162G, capsized during the landing sequence. There were no injuries or fatalities reported as a result of the accident.
Investigation findings indicated that the pilot-in-command performed the water landing with the landing gear in the extended position, which caused the aircraft to capsize.
