What happened
On August 5, 2022, a flight was conducted under approved flight plans issued by the Air Traffic Management Center of the State Corporation for Air Traffic Management. The intended route began at Shumeyka (located 11 km northeast of the Engels-2 airfield), proceeded to Zarya (19 km east of Tambov), and was scheduled to conclude at Novinki in the Moscow region.
The pilot departed from Shumeyka at 05:12 local time. After the initial leg of the flight, the aircraft landed at Zarya at 08:02. Following this, the pilot took off from Zarya at 11:05, continuing the flight toward the final destination in Novinki.
At approximately 13:20, while flying over the vicinity of the village of Tyoploye in the Venyovsky district of the Tula region, the aircraft struck the ground. The impact resulted in one fatality (the pilot) and caused significant damage to the aircraft. No fire occurred at the crash site following the impact.
The investigation
Following the accident, an eyewitness notified the emergency services via telephone. Investigative actions were carried out at the scene, and the body of the pilot was transported to the Tula interdistrict department of the Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination.
