On May 9, 2021, at approximately 12:00, an aircraft owner arrived at the Poyma airfield to conduct engine test runs. The aircraft, a Yakovlev Yak-42D with registration RA-2994G, was refueled with 20 liters of A-95 gasoline. Following refueling, the pilot in command and the aircraft owner performed initial taxiing and several low-altitude acceleration runs, reaching heights of no more than 0.5 meters.
After the initial test runs, the engine was shut down and the aircraft taxied to a parking spot. The aircraft owner then left the immediate area to observe model aircraft enthusiasts approximately 700 meters away. To reduce the aircraft's weight, the pilot in command decided to perform a subsequent takeoff with only a passenger on board.
The accident occurred while the pilot in command was operating the aircraft RA-2994G. During the flight phase, the aircraft experienced a loss of airspeed and entered a stall condition at a low altitude. The impact resulted in two fatalities.
