On January 8, 2021, at approximately 10:39:15, a mid-air collision occurred over the runway area of the Gostilitzy airfield in the Lomonsovsky District of Russia. The accident involved a ROCKY aircraft, registration RA-22659G, and an S-152KN aircraft.
Earlier that morning, the pilot of the ROCKY aircraft completed an initial flight and performed pre-flight preparations for a second flight. At 07:45, the pilot contacted St. Petersburg-region air traffic control to report a takeoff from Gostilitzy, planning to fly over the water area in class Golf to the 25th waypoint. The pilot later reported landing at Gostilitzy parking area 3 at 08:41.
For the subsequent flight, the pilot of the S-152KN aircraft took off at 09:00 and flew in the vicinity of the landing site for approximately 30 minutes. At 10:37, the S-152KN aircraft departed with a passenger on board, following a rectangular route with a left turn.
Approximately 23 seconds after the S-152KN departure, the pilot of the RA-2659G aircraft took off on the same heading toward the Petrovskoye navigation point. At an altitude of approximately 700 feet, the two aircraft collided in the air. Following the impact, the ROCKY aircraft lost speed and altitude, striking the ground and being destroyed.
