On June 8, 2019, at approximately 09:30, a pilot arrived at the Prochnoоkopskaya landing site, belonging to the Aeroclub named after A. A. Baluev, in the Novokubansky district of the Krasnodar region. The pilot intended to conduct a training flight using the Ikar aircraft, registration RA-2628G.
Prior to departure, the pilot visually assessed the meteorological conditions and did not submit an application for airspace use to traffic control authorities. The aircraft owner performed technical maintenance before the flight, which included fueling the engine with 75 liters of AI-92 gasoline and 10 liters of MS-20 oil. No baggage or cargo was carried on board.
At approximately 10:30, the pilot completed an inspection, started the engine, and allowed it to warm up. During the flight, the engine failed, necessitating a forced landing at an airfield selected from the air.
There were no injuries or fatalities resulting from the incident. The aircraft was operating from a landing site where, per regulations, a pre-flight medical examination by a professional was not required, as the pilot in command is authorized to make the decision to fly.
