On June 10, 2024, an aviation incident occurred in the Yashkul district of the Republic of Kalmykia involving an NS-4 aircraft, registration RA-1322G. The aircraft was being operated by a private individual to provide aerial chemical treatment services for several local agricultural farms.
The pilot-in-command had previously flown from the settlement of Arshan-Bulg to a landing site near Khar-Tolga on June 9, 2024, completing three chemical treatment flights before nightfall. On the morning of June 10, 2024, at 03:00, the pilot began pre-flight preparations for further agricultural work.
Investigations into the flight history were conducted using statements from the pilot-in-command, an assistant, an agronomist, and a farm worker, as well as air traffic control records and site inspections. While the pilot did not submit a flight plan for the Class G airspace or undergo a medical examination, the lack of a medical exam was noted as not contradicting specific local regulations (FAP-128) for that location.
The incident resulted in a collision between the aircraft and an overhead power line (OHPL) support structure located within the flight area.
