Investigation of the event relied on the pilot's statements, an inspection of the wreckage, and open-source video footage, as the aircraft lacked objective flight data recording equipment. The pilot did not submit flight notifications to air traffic control authorities prior to the flight.
The aircraft, RA-0685G, was operating in the Serpukhov urban district, approximately 1.3 km northwest of the settlement of Lanshiino. While the pilot did not undergo a pre-flight medical examination, this was noted as not contradicting specific regulations regarding airfields without medical professionals.
During the flight, the pilot attempted maneuvers involving variable angles. The accident occurred during a period of maneuvering at an extremely low altitude.
